Que o quien te inspira: Mi inspiración viene de todas partes. Creo que la mayor fuente de inspiración es mi familia. Mi niña mayor, Willow (6 ½),  fue diagnosticada con Austimo hacen 3 años y esto cambio mi vida por completo. Mi niña menor,  Cora (3), es mi pequeña ayudante, no se que me haria sin ella.  Tengo un esposo excelente que trabaja mientras yo cuido de mis niñas.  La música y mis amistades son también una fuente de inspiración para mi.

De que esta más orgullosa: Estoy orgullosa de mi contribución a la enseñanza del autismo. Considero que  muchas personas no saben de la enferdad e ignoran el hecho que los que sufren de la misma ven el mundo de diferente manera. Las familias que viven con un hijo(a) que sufre de esta enfermedad, viven vidas llenas de estress pero se puede simplificar para beneficio de los hijos (as).  Cabe recalcar la importancia que las personas que sufren de autismo tienen sentimientos y solo quieren ser amados y aceptados en un mundo que no conocen.

También estoy orgullosa que he aprendido a tejer. Es algo que nunca pense que podia hacer y resulta ser bien relajante.

Frase favorita: “Necesitas una experiencia religiosa y cercana a Jesus” del libro de Nora Roberts y la otra es “tienes que hacer las cosas a prueba de idotas”

English Version

My name is Christie Ambert-King and I am originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico.  I moved to Florida in my early 20’s which was great because it forced me to grow up and experience a lot of things.

My inspiration: My daily inspiration comes from everywhere. I think the biggest source of inspiration is my family. My oldest daughter, Willow (6 ½), was diagnosed with Autism 3 years ago and changed how I perceive the world. My youngest daughter, Cora (3), is not autistic but she is my little helper and without her I would just go crazy. I have a great husband who works fulltime, so I can stay at home and take care of the girls. I also find inspiration from music and my friends. Inspiration, for me, can come from a lot of things.

What I’m proud of: I am most proud of my contribution to autism awareness. I think a lot of people tend to ignore that the people affected with autism see the world in a very different way. It helps to be aware and be understanding towards autistics and their families. Families touched by autism live very stressful lives but you can do something nice and simple for them. It’s very important that people understand that people with autism have feelings and they want to be loved and understood in a world that they just don’t get.

Also, I’m proud of the fact that I am learning to knit. It’s something I never thought I could do and as it turns out, it is very relaxing.

Favorite phrase: Well there’s two of them really.  “You need a come to Jesus experience” Which is a quote from a Nora Roberts’s book. And the other one is “You need to make this idiot-proof.”
